About
Stephen Hutchins founded Hutchins Stoneworks in 2016 with a focus on architectural carving and sculpture. His journey began in 2004 at age 18 in New Hampshire, where he gained hands-on experience in masonry. In 2013, Stephen moved to Nashville, honing his skills as a stone fabricator crafting pool copings, wall caps, and fireplace surrounds. His passion for sculpture blossomed during a summer on Whidbey Island, Washington, where he learned diverse techniques from seasoned sculptors at Freeland Art Studio. Returning to Nashville, he specialized in architectural stone carving, creating ornamental fireplaces and traditional letter carvings.
Through Hutchins Stoneworks, Stephen has collaborated with top architects, developers, and contractors. His craftsmanship is showcased at prominent Nashville landmarks, including the Nashville City Cemetery, St. Cecilia Academy, Ensworth School, and Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, blending artistry with timeless stonework.
